Boards

Who May Serve on the Board of Directors? To be eligible to serve on the Heart of Ohio Emmaus Board, you must be an active member of the community for at least one year.  Attending gatherings, serving meals, and helping with logisitics are good ways to become active.

When Are Elections?Nominations for the Heart of Ohio Emmaus Board are generally held at the September monthly gathering of any given year; the list of nominees is read again at the October and November gatherings.  All community members present at the November gathering vote on the nominees.

What is the Commitment?Board members agree to serve a three year term commencing January 1 of the year immediately following the November gathering.  Board members agree to head one of the committees listed to the left.  Anyone serving as Chairperson is asked to serve a fourth year as the Chairperson Emeritus to assist in a smooth transition to the new Chairperson.  The chairperson is responsible for attending all Chrysalis and Emmaus closing ceremonies and serves on the Chrysalis committee as the liason to the Emmaus Board; therefore the chairperson does not head any other committee.

When Are Board Meetings Held? Board meetings are held monthly one hour prior to the monthly gathering.  Board meetings currently begin at 06:30 PM Eastern Time and run until 07:30 PM; emergency board meetings may also be called at the discretion of the board chairperson.  Board meetings are traditionally not held in December but may be scheduled at the discretion of the board chairperson.

All members of the Heart of Ohio Emmaus and Chrysalis community are free to attend all board meetings.  Persons who have attended a Face to Face Encounter are considered a part of the Emmaus community.
