Mike Bell – 4th Day

Mike Bell – 4th Day

When and where was your Emmaus Ministries event?

My Emmaus Walk was with Heart of Ohio, Walk 24, Table of Matthew in October 2001.

How did my Walk impact my life?

I’ll start with the questions pilgrims are asked at the end of their three day journey. What it meant to me was a realization of how much I was loved: by family and friends, and by this Emmaus Community. I realized that I needed to return that love. What was I going to do about this? My Emmaus weekend moved me forward in appreciation of my family and renewed energy in ministry. My Emmaus weekend broadened my ministry perspective and opened my heart to opportunities in ministry in my community.

What is my Fourth Day journey?

I started with Christian Action. My Emmaus Walk caused me to say “Yes” to working in new ministries and uncharted territories. I began to meet more people of faith outside my church and to work to bring the Good News of Jesus into my community.

Growth through Study was next. I began meeting with a small group of men who encouraged daily Bible reading. This changed the direction of my life and led me towards a Life of Piety. As a man, while I may prefer Pie over Piety, my willingness to study made me aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit guiding my life. I had always felt like a Christian outsider, now I felt like I was really a part of the Kingdom of God.

What is my hope for the future?

I have always worked in small roles, doing what is needed and trying to do the right thing. I participate in several small groups of men, both within and outside my church. We learn and share our faith. I read extensively and strive to understand, from a faith perspective, the world I am living in. I am grateful for the way God shaped Men’s Walk 62, bringing us what was needed exactly when needed. No need to worry, everything was handled. I am counting on Christ every day and I know Christ is counting on me—and counting you too.
